Up at Quesna!

Saturday 10th September 2011

Today we returned to Quesna to prepare for the fieldschool which will start tomorrow!  Three of the field school students already came by today to say hello and we will start at 7.30am tomorrow morning!

Today was a good chance to walk over the site and select the locations for the trenches for this year.  The results of Kris’s GPR survey are just through and this has been most helpful in our decisions!  They came through just in time, last night!  The survey results have now been printed, together with the results of the magnetic survey from 2006 and also  the GPR survey from 2009 and tomorrow morning after the introductory session for the field school, we will head out in order to mark out the locations for the new trenches and get to work!

The students’ dig bags are ready to go, tomorrow, with the equipment having been put in this afternoon back at home, after work!  We now have three flats functioning - one of which will be for some of the students for the field school, students who live too far away to travel to work at Quesna every day!

So - everything seems ready for the morning and our first field school at Quesna - we look forward to reporting back and showing the first pictures of the work tomorrow.  There will be more Khatatbah reports coming this week too!
