Colleagues up at Quesna earlier this week
Friday was much as usual here in Shibin! The chance to sleep a little longer was well received, but then to the usual Friday chores of clothes washing, weekly accounts and catching up on various aspects of work! We had home fried tamia (falafel) for breakfast and then not longer after, it was time to go for our lunch appointment in the nearby village of Milij. Although it feels rather cold inside at the moment, it is fabulously warm outside in the sunshine. We spent a very pleasant couple of hours at lunch and sitting in the sunshine watching village life go by and the local lads playing football, and talking with our host’s family, who I have got to know quite well through visits during the past five years - we were even invited to his son’s wedding last spring!
We then returned to Shibin and back to the apartment to do some more work before dinner and then charging batteries for the camera and total station ahead of work tomorrow. We made contact with our old landlord, Mr Sharif, a local businessman, who we will hopefully meet tomorrow or after tomorrow - he has always been most helpful with apartments, if he hasn’t got one, he will find someone who has!! So we are all rested and ready to head back to work tomorrow…
